Mounts in Crimson Desert are essential for traversing Pywel's vast open world. The game features 14 unique mounts across four categories: Horses, Beasts, Flying Mounts, and Special Mounts. Each mount has different stats for speed, stamina, combat capability, and utility. The most sought-after is the Wyvern, a flying mount that dramatically changes exploration.
Mount Stats Explained
| Stat | Affects | Importance |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Land movement speed | High |
| Stamina | Sprint duration before tiring | High |
| Health | Durability in combat | Medium |
| Combat Power | Ability to fight enemies | Medium |
| Utility | Special abilities (swimming, climbing, flying) | Varies |
You can summon your mount from anywhere outdoors. Press H (keyboard) or L1 (controller) for a 3-second summon animation. Works during combat, though the animation leaves you vulnerable.

How to Get the Wyvern
The Pywelian Wyvern is the most coveted mount in Crimson Desert. Obtaining it requires completing a multi-stage quest chain in Chapter 4:
- Discover the Wyvern Nest — Located at the peak of the Ashenmoor Peaks in Chapter 4. You must climb to the summit using the Rustbone Ram mount or a cliff-climbing ability.
- Retrieve the Wyvern Egg — The nest contains a single egg guarded by a Level 38 Wyvern Matriarch (mini-boss). Defeat her to claim the egg.
- Incubate the Egg — Return the egg to the Beast Handler NPC in Ironhold. The egg takes 2 in-game days (1 hour real time) to hatch.
- Bond with the Wyvern — Complete three bonding quests: feed the wyvern 5 times, fly training course, and defeat a sky-borne enemy together.
The Wyvern changes exploration completely. Flying mounts let you bypass all terrain obstacles, reach hidden areas impossible on foot, and engage enemies from the air with dive attacks. Many collectibles in Chapters 3 and 4 are only accessible with a flying mount.
Mount Upgrades
Mounts can be upgraded at stables across Pywel:
| Upgrade | Cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Speed Training | 500-2,000 Gold | +5-15% movement speed |
| Stamina Conditioning | 300-1,500 Gold | +10-20% stamina |
| Armor Plating | 1,000-5,000 Gold | +100-500 HP, +5% damage reduction |
| Combat Training | 800-3,000 Gold | +10-20% combat power |
Mounts can die in combat. If a mount's HP reaches zero, it returns to the stable and cannot be summoned for 5 minutes. On Nightmare difficulty, mount death is permanent until you pay a resurrection fee at any stable. Protect your mounts during combat.
Mounts transform how you experience Pywel. From the reliable Greymane Scout Horse to the game-changing Pywelian Wyvern, choosing and upgrading the right mount makes every journey faster, safer, and more enjoyable.
